Title: New Fascinating Foliage Varieties Post by: Charlie on March 09, 2012, 09:15:23 AM We continue to work on the Fascinating Foliage series. At present we have varieties in almost all colors but would like to see more spotted and ringed varieties with the interesting foliage. Below are 2 of the newest ones, both with Creme de Cacao as parent as all the Fascinating Foliage varieties have so far.

Could get more yellow markings then. I need to check the name tag again but if memory serves this is a Creme de Cacao x Butter Cup cross. It's quite similar to Butter Cup though a darker brown. The first cuttings are very vigorous and are rooting quickly so this variety could get a name and be out there by fall.

It would be interesting to watch the bloom through the year-- if the summer colors are as nice as the winter colors, I'm in.

All the cuttings appear to be rooting and if that is the case we will be able to pot up the stock plants we need for future propagation and still have a dozen or so plants left to put in the store this summer. This is also an unusually vigorous cutting. Normally I don't see a lot of top growth while the cuttings are rooting but this one has grown several inches during the 5 weeks it has been in the propagation area. Not sure what that means for future growth in pots but it might be a monster grower. Come to think of it, Albo does the same thing and it is a huge, fast growing garden variety hibiscus.
