Title: Flashdancer Post by: Doll on November 21, 2011, 11:59:55 AM Charlie, are you still growing Flashdancer? It's like Sun Shower on an upright bush. Hopefully it also inherited Sun Shower's heat tolerance. I don't recall ever seeing it available.
Title: Re: Flashdancer Post by: roadrunner on November 21, 2011, 01:36:25 PM Hi John,
Well I'm not Charlie but I can tell you there were a few offered in July 2010 and it's the only time I recall any being available. It had been on my wish list ever since I discovered HVH's website back in 2007. I was very fortunate to get one. I don't recall if any showed up in the store. I'm fairly certain that I got an email notice about it. I imagine Charlie would start a few upon request. There are a few other older cultivars of his that I'd like to get as well. dave Title: Re: Flashdancer Post by: Doll on November 21, 2011, 02:09:59 PM Thanks Dave. So how has it done for you? I'll just add it to my wish list.
Title: Re: Flashdancer Post by: Charlie on November 21, 2011, 03:03:59 PM Flash Dancer has been in short supply the last few years. It's a very large and pretty flower that did not make the transition from grafted to rooted plants. But, it's worth grafting and I will add it to my "to do" list. The cross was Sun Shower x The Path.

It was one of several plants that got hit bad with spider mites this summer before I got them on the Kontos. I also think it may be own root. I'll probably keep an eye out for any grafted ones if mine continues to struggle. Hope Charlie grafts a few. I wonder how he manages to keep up with all our requests.

Farmer D Title: Re: Flashdancer Post by: blupit007 on November 22, 2011, 11:56:39 AM I agree, do I dare add it to the list? What a beauty! I have always liked sunshower. And you say the bush on this is nicer?
Title: Re: Flashdancer Post by: Charlie on November 23, 2011, 07:21:42 AM Yeah, Sun Shower is a great flower on a sprawling bush so the cross with The Path helped it gain more upright growth habit. It's still not perfect but better and I like the flower a little more too with the contribution of shades of color from The Path.
