Title: Fungus Gnats Post by: Denise on November 10, 2011, 01:05:53 PM Since bringing my hibiscus inside, I am noticing the annoying little fungus gnats flying around. I saw some ideas online after googling how to get rid of them, but thought I'd ask the "experts" here how you all have dealt with these? :)

Sorry I didn't see this question!!!!!! I'm glad John answered it! The easiest way to keep fungus gnats away is to use 1 big drop of detergent (dish or hand soap) in each gallon of water you use to water your plants. It works like magic, and keeps all kinds of bugs away that might try to drink your plant's water - earwigs, gnats, flies, etc. If you use our HVH Houseplant Formula, it also kills and prevents gnats and these other water-drinking bugs. Title: Fungus Gnats Post by: Cindy on December 31, 2011, 10:03:35 AM One other thing I've noticed, Denise, is that the gnats like ANY water I have hanging around my house, like flower vases or rooting cuttings in glasses. So when you're in the stage of trying to get rid of an infestation, it's better to minimize any standing water in your house. Once the infestation is gone, and the gnats can't lay eggs in your pots any more, then you don't have to worry about flower vases. But minimizing standing water sources while you're trying to get rid of them does help.
