Best organic fertilizers

Hi all,

I really like to use organic fertilizers for my plants, but I understand hibiscus need more potassium than fish emulsion or products like that require.  I've heard that sea kelp is a good supplement.  Anyone have any suggestions?

A long time ago , I ordered some organic kelp extract from HVH.  I was using the original HVH fertilizer but I started to get salt burn and made a switch to organic sea kelp, my plants looked great.
I don't think you can go wrong with the sea kelp if you want to go organic.

Kelp is an excellent source of nutrients for hibiscus, far better than most fish emulsions and does not stink the way they do. Most fish emulsion products are made from the dregs of processing fish and can vary a lot in their content. I don't recommend them due to this difficulty of knowing what is really in them. There is one company that I found that claims to make a quality fish emulsion unlike anything else on the market but I have not tried it yet.

I've spent a fair amount of time researching organic fertilizers and thought I had found a great one made in Europe. But when I tried to order it I was told that it was too pricey and was no longer being imported. Drats!

As Helix has said, most organic sources are low in potassium and although they will support the health of hibiscus plants are not optimal. I am continuing to look for organic products of all types that will benefit hibiscus and will post more about this whenever I learn something interesting.
