Dieback Disease

I took just a moment to share a few pics of what dieback disease looks like.  Surprisingly this week my Venetian Brick all of a sudden got it which I wasn't on alert for since it has been an overall mild winter though this last few weeks have been on the cooler side for us with some wet nights here.

Well on the positive side hopefully this will produce some branching down the road...

I just recently experienced dieback on my newest Cindy's Heart. But as you can see it is branching out quite nicely right below the dieback.

Yeah, these are both typical examples of dieback. As you both noted, the side benefit is a sort of forced pruning that will result in more side branching and eventually more blooms.

OK!  Now I know.  This is what claimed a few of my cv's this winter.  I lost Space Oddity to it.  Almost lost Misbehavin but caught it.  And am working on bringing back Gator Pride from it along with Tiger's Eye.  I didn't realize that was what it was.  On Misbehavin I cut below the yucky stuff and sealed it with wax... What are you supposed to do with this?
