We are very happy to announce we are holding our first meeting of 2015!  And what a fabulous way to start off the new year's growing season than at the beautiful Sherman Library & Gardens in Newport Beach.

Please come join us on Sunday April 19 at 10am.  The SCHS will be paying the admission fees for all who attend and we will have a private guided tour of the gardens.  All in the heart of Newport Beach so why not make a day out of it and enjoy one of the most fun locales in Southern California!

We will be holding our meeting and famous hibiscus plant auction after the tour.  There is also a great cafe onsite for lunch.

We had one fabulous meeting in Carlsbad at Joanna Bravender's lovely home and garden.  It was a total blast on a most beautiful day with crystal clear skies at temps in the low 80s.  If you live in the Southern California area and would like to meet other hibiscus growers please come join us for a meeting.  We move our meeting locations around each month to try and accommodate as many as we can since So Cal is such a large geographic area.

This comes as very late notice but totally not too late to attend our July meeting.  It will be at my home and garden Saturday July 25 starting at 10am with a one hour question/answer session just for all your hibiscus needs.  We will have our business meeting at 11am with another awesome hibiscus plant auction to follow along with lunch.

Should be another really fun day!  I have to say the people we get at our meetings are just a great group of people that are easy to talk to and fun to be around.  Come join us and see for yourself.

Get ready for another fun filled morning & afternoon with your hibiscus friends.  The Southern California Hibiscus Society will be holding it's August meeting at the home of Dr Ernest Curtis in Tustin.  Come see his amazing hibiscus collection of over 200 hibiscus and many other beautiful tropical plants as well.

We will start with a question/answer session from 10-11am.  Business meeting follows from 11am-12 with lunch and plant auction to follow.  Check out the photos below of the plants we will be auctioning off.  Some real beauties!  Also this will be a great chance to meet our local famous hybridizing dynamic duo Charles & Cindy Black who will be gracing our presence at the meeting as well!

We have plenty of room left so come join us - we look forward to seeing you there!

Hello Hibiscus Friends!

Can you believe summer is already winding down and we are heading into September?  Time to cool off from all that heat and relax in the shade at Ken Garlock's tropical escape nestled in the hills of South Pasadena.  We will be starting at 10am so you can take your time and view the dozens of rare plants and palms Ken has collected over the years.  Meeting is at 11am with our auction to follow afterwards.  Drinks & refreshments will be provided.Please RSVP by Sept 16.  See you there!

Come spend a fabulous Saturday in beautiful Santa Barbara with your hibiscus friends & world famous Instagram/Facebook legend Brad Daniels. If you missed last year's October meeting at Brad's home it was a spectacular day with warm sunny weather and a great time for all!

Hello Hibiscus Friends!

Come join us for another enjoyable and exciting Saturday morning with your hibiscus friends in sunny and always pleasant Altadena.  Our November meeting's guest speaker will be from BioContractors Inc who will be explaining in detail the composting and worm composting processes. The prices are very low, the soil composter around $40 and the worm composter only about $65, which includes the coir bedding and the worms, a tremendous bargain considering the rich advantages. We urge you to take advantage of this rare buying opportunity to make your garden flourish with the synergies of composting. We have plenty of room so please join us. The weather should be fabulous this weekend in the 80s!

What a great way to kick off the holiday season!

Another very enjoyable and fun filled day with a wonderful group of people.  Thank you Ron Lanyi for hosting a very interesting and informative meeting at your lovely home tucked in the hills just below the San Gabriel Mountains.  We were fortunate to have Bio Contractors who work in conjunction with LA County give us an amazing presentation about composting and your garden.  Tons of great information and then being able to buy composting kits with the worms too at a big discount was awesome!

And did I mention that it was close to 90F and absolutely gorgeous weather as well?  Please come and join us if you live in the Southern California area or are visiting.  All guests are welcome!  We hope to see you at one of our meetings soon.
