Avid Spray or Drench?

I am guessing that AVID is best used as a spray? If that is the case does it work as a systemic when sprayed (readily absorbed by leaves)?

I usually drench if I using a systemic.  But I cannot find out which way to do it?

Hi Jim,

Avid is not a systemic - it is what they call "translaminar" which means that the spray soaks deep into the leaf tissue but does not circulate to leaves that are not sprayed. You should spray Avid on all leaves and stems, and the bottoms of leaves, too, if possible. You can add a spreader/sticker to the water - this helps the Avid to stick and penetrate the leaves better.

Remember, spider mite damage will show up for 2-3 weeks even after the mites are killed. Don't go by damage as much as by visible inspection for live mites after spraying to determine if you got good control. Avid is supposed to last for 3 weeks but if you have an active infestation you can spray it at weekly intervals until control is obtained.
