Need some tips on how to start cuttings. I have a couple that I put in a glass of water about two weeks ago; lots of white callus but no roots yet. Can you use peat plugs like for hydroponic gardening? Or is it best to plant directly into a pot with soil and hope for the best? What sort of success rate have you had? I got some cuttings of Erin Rachel, the Path, and Cajun Cocktail. The older ones without roots yet in water are Red Riding Hood and Me-Oh-My-Oh and then I stuck a cutting of Golden Dust into a peat plug. Anyone have advice for me?
There are so many ways so what you need to do Geneva is try and see whats best for you. What I do is take a tip cutting [between about 4 and 7 inches long], dip it in some root hormone and put in my mix, the mix is about 50% Perlite. I try to leave the leaves on but cut the leaves at least in half, and then most importantly [after misting the leaves ] I cover the whole lot with a polly bag.
