I have often thought that there should be a topic started so you can just comment about the monthly newsletter so I have started one.
Just read the March one and thought it the best for ages, loved the gardening quotes and had a good laugh, my favourite ''I suppose that for most people one of the darker joys of gardening is that once you've got started it's not at all hard to find someone who knows a little bit less than you." . . . Allen Lacey '' just brilliant, will be interesting to know others favourites.
I think we might well have seen seedling of the year for 2013 [King Kamehameha] just wonderful, I doubt I will ever spell it correctly again mind.
So interesting to read about the care taken to get good bushes, not to forget that the bush also has to have a super flower and be a good bloomer, I dont know but I bet hundreds and hundreds are rejected.
And of course it was also nice to see my Acapulco Gold in the Newsletter, thanks a great read.

Thanks for starting this topic, David. Your photo of your Acapulco Gold bush in full bloom was just too pretty not to include.
I suggested the gardening quotes section to Cindy and she came up with some that we both liked and hoped others would too.We're thinking maybe a gardening jokes collection for some future issue. Anyone know any good ones?
King Kamehameha perhaps should have been named King Kong, but no matter, its quite a bloom machine by any name!

I second David's comments on the Newsletter. Excellent article on bushes packed with useful and interesting information. Good selection of photos to illustrate nice bushes with Darren's Chariots of Fire, David's Acapulco Gold, and my Simple Pleasures.
Great job Charlie and Cindy!

Charlie, I never miss the newsletter, it so informative. Perhaps you could comment more on the status of this years crop of Hibiscus, as we all wait months to get our products, and are just curious how things are going in the greenhouses.

David great idea starting up this topic. I was going to mention something on the Pics of the Day thread but this is definitely better.
I totally agree, that was probably the best newsletter I've read so far. The quotes were really good, the bush topic is really informative and King Kamehameha is a stand out and probably one of the best seedlings I've seen from HVH. No doubt it will be in very high demand for a long time to come.
David your bush shot of Acapulco Gold is one of the best I've seen. It was even posted on Facebook last year and people went crazy when they saw it. Erny your Simple Pleasures is another unbelievable one as well and is my goal for mine to look like one day.
Charlie & Cindy thank you for taking the time to produce the newsletter each month - I can only imagine how busy you are and then to squeeze it into your schedules must not be easy.
My advice is to propagate as many King Kamehamehas as possible as I bet it will quickly become one of your best sellers down the road. It is going to be really tough this year if that one is available in "limited quantities". How would you describe the bush? It look like AG's bush from the limited view in that picture.

Great stories in the news letter, a good laugh again I hope others will add there’s, here is one of mine.
A couple of years ago I told my daughter that I was not sending her any money for her birthday [I was a bit skint at the time] but had bought her a lovely Hibiscus, she is 34 but still expects a prezzy. A few months later she flew out here from the UK for a visit, straight away she was in the garden asking me which was hers, I had forgotten about her birthday so said Bridal Path which was in full bloom at the time, she was delighted making a big fuss, saying it was the best present she had ever had, then the bombshell, telling me she had already contacted FedEx who would pick it up the day before she returned home and how it was going to look so nice in her newly bought greenhouse.
The little sod let me sweat for 4 days before she told me she was only joking.
