Yes Denise depending on which way your house is facing it can make quite a difference with the seasons, I get no sun on the front of my house now but do in the summer.
If you imagine a clock face then the sun passes over me now in the direction from 5 to the hour to 25 past the hour, where in the summer its quarter to to quarter past, ha ha not a scientist but you get the idea, and remember I live near the equator so its 12 hours daylight all the year round[weather that makes a difference I dont know]. Maybe you could ask a neighbour or see what they have growing, or just wait, your new plants wont come till May and you will know yourself then.

Denise, take a look at Sleeping Beauty. It only needs 1-2 hours of sun.

Thanks Jordan and David. I guess I'll have to check out how the sun pattern out there changes as Spring and Summer approach. John, that's a great suggestion for a shade spot! Thanks. I have never really looked at Sleeping Beauty because I am more drawn to bold or unusual colors. But that one is pretty in its own way.

Hi All! Though I'd update this little project of mine. I ended up putting Midsummer Night and Ay Carumba in this spot. It turns out it gets sun from sunrise to about 10 or 11 AM. I think it's perfect. The plants are doing really well. I have each plant in its own pot and then sunk them into the white box planter. I think it looks so pretty! No blooms yet but Midsummer Night should bloom any day now.
I am hoping no one decides to swipe the planter box like we discussed. I do work from home and am at the door several times a day, so hopefully I'll be okay I live on a street that is not very busy as well.

Very pretty, Denise. In our last house we had a covered porch that got similar early morning sun and the hibiscus did well there, blooming with flowers that showed little stress from summer heat. I like the mix in your planters - always some color that way!

Thanks Charlie. I thought the planter looked a little bare so I added the little pink flowers. Should look nice once the hibiscus are blooming! I think the afternoon shade is going to be great for preserving the colors, like you said.

Wow Denise that is just one heck of a gorgeous bloom!  I love MN a ton and you have yours in a perfect spot to slow down any fading.  I've found with mine the blooms have quite a bit a variability in appearance so always exciting to see what each bloom will look like.  Congrats!

Thanks Darren! That bloom really made my day! I know people on this forum know that feeling! It was 95 degrees and very breezy today so the bloom looks raggedy now, but the color barely faded! I was really excited about the deep purple color, as it was my first hibiscus with that color. Breathtaking! Luckily, it has many buds forming so hopefully I won't have to wait long for my next bloom! Thanks for the comments! Hopefully her neighbor Ay Carumba will catch up soon. I see one bud so far!
