Uta lives in Dresden, Germany. Space and weather are both challenges for Uta. She lives in an apartment in a city where winters are long, cold and snowy. Uta uses every bit of space both inside her apartment and outside on her balcony to grow her hibiscus. The result is a beautiful city balcony garden in the summer, and a lush houseplant garden in the winter.

Uta uses shelves for baby plants in small pots, and covers the floor with larger plants in bigger pots.

Hibiscus, hibiscus, and more hibiscus! It's amazing how many hibiscus Uta can fit onto her balcony! Every nook and cranny is full of hibiscus all summer long, and as they grow, the flowers bloom high above the city in a kind of aerial garden.

In the fall, Uta moves all her hibiscus into the house for the winter, turning her whole apartment into a hibiscus garden. Uta's green thumb makes it all work beautifully!
