This was their garden when they first planted it with baby hibiscus.

This is the same view 3 years later. It's amazing how fast their hibiscus grew! The "Sunshine State" is a great place for hibiscus to grow, and Brenda and Colin tend their garden with loving care.

This is another view of their huge, 2-acre hibiscus garden. Hibiscus bloom in Queensland, Australia all year long.

![]() Australian Variety 'Brendan' |
All of the hibiscus shown here are Australian hybrids. This hybrid is 'Brendan,' named by Brenda and Colin after a 10-year-old Australian boy who died of Adrenaleukodystrophy - a very beautiful hibiscus for a very special little boy.

Brenda is also the official Seed Bank Officer for the Australian Hibiscus Society, and would welcome any extra seed that our fellow Hibiscus growers have, to help spread the wonderment of the beauty of hibiscus worldwide. The Seed Bank sends seed to hibiscus lovers all over the world. The seed is free, but the Seed Bank does ask for $4.00 (Australian dollars) to cover postage and package costs. Payment can be made by International Postal Certificate or PayPal.
To send seeds to the Seed Bank, put about 20 seeds in a small, sealed plastic bag, and label the bag with the names of the crossed seeds (ex. ABC X XYZ) and the name of the hybridizer. (If the Seed Bank receives any feedback from the seed recipients after they grow the seeds, they will send the feedback back to the hybridizer.) Then wrap the seeds in something soft, like bubble wrap, and mail in a plain brown envelope to:

On the right is 'Long Tan,' named after a battle in the Viet Nam War. It commemorates the Australian soldiers, "diggers," who died in Viet Nam. Colin was a digger, and nearly one who died! The hybrid on the left is 'Araluen Kim,' named after Colin's youngest daughter.
