HVH Award-Winning Hibiscus

One question we get asked constantly at HVH is what our favorite hibiscus variety is. We never want to answer, because of course we love all our babies! How can a parent have a favorite? Beauty is everywhere in our greenhouses and our beholding eyes can change from one day to the next. But by the end of each year, at HVH we do end up with some overall stand-out favorites, whether we like it or not. We don't usually admit to this or tell anyone but ourselves. But for the last few years our HVH Hibiscus of the Year award has been popular, and we've received many requests to fess up and tell our favorites. So here for the first time is the complete list of the hibiscus we consider worthy of winning our own personal awards for Hibiscus of the Year and for Seedling of the Year for the years 2000 through 2012.

We chose our favorites over the years based on:

Hibiscus of the Year is a variety that we have been growing for several years and one that has proven itself to be reliable, beautiful, and an overall excellent performer and bloomer.

Seedling of the Year is a new hybrid variety that has impressed us very much during its first full year of growing in our greenhouse. We believe that it has great potential and that it will become one of our most popular varieties in future years.
