I remember seeing the first flower of 'Bright Hope' last year on the seedling bush. I liked the big dark eye and the bright ring of yellow color around the edge so I checked the tag and found it to be a cross of 2 of my favorites - Rainbow Christie and Simple Pleasures. We didn't have a lot of them this year but one made it to a gentleman in Florida who just started showing his flowers in Florida hibiscus shows. Lo and behold, he entered 'Bright Hope' in the "Amateur" class and it won Best Single in the amateur class. But then the judges evaluated the Best Single flowers from all the classes and voted 'Bright Hope' the Best of Show single. Quite a nice accomplishment for anyone showing in their first year. I should get a photo of the winning bloom one of these days but apparently it was a 9 inch flower with excellent colors on show day. Below is a photo of the very first flower that this variety opened on the seedling bush.

Great story that Chalie.Would love to sometime see a picture of the winner, your photo is good and you could see why it would win but I bet the one that did win was very special.

Hi Charlie,
To see a video clip of the winners including Bright Hope go to YouTube.com. It is under Sunset 5.29.2011.AVP
Bright Hope was the best by far in my opinion.

Have to agree with Darren, I did like the seedling at 2.43 though.

How is the bush on Bright Hope? Is it compact and full like Simple Pleasures? You should put this seedling pic of it up, I thought it was too similar to SP until I saw this pic!

Bright Hope has become one of Cindy and my favorite varieties. We have a 1 gallon pot of it in our breakfast area with windows on 3 sides so all the hibiscus there bloom pretty well. Below are photos of a winter bloom of Bright Hope.

I have been very impressed so far with the intensity of colors in the bloom on my new plant. Especially the dark and prominent eye zone.

More Bright Hope shots - this CV seems to do great either indoors or out.

Here is why I love Bright Hope so much - that eye can get so big and dark it really is hard to believe. My advice is to put this one in as much sunlight as it can handle. The fade is impressive too as the dark eye gets darker and the yellow fades so the color contrast is just mind blowing.
