Hi Charlie,

I know you mentioned that this is a good variety to hybridize with and I was just curious what sort of colors/traits you get in this CVs offspring.  Are they usually brown, yellow, etc.  I know that some of the cvs you have been showing their offspring have certain patterns in arise in their offspring.  Lightening with gator pride and intense coloration with heavy metal, so I was curious as to what patterns you see with this cv.  I should have some Belle cv patterns  to share in a year or two because every single seed I got this year had Belle as a parent. I may have spoken too soon about this since few of the many seedlings that have Creme de Cacao as a parent have bloomed yet. What I like about them as a group so far is that many have taken after grandparent Key Lime Pie in being big, robust bushes with primitive 3 lobed leaf form. That usually bodes well for turning into strong, upright bushes that root well. I also feel certain that the many colorful genes contained in the parents of CCacao will combine in interesting ways with other browns and blues. As always, it is a matter of growing enough seeds to find those new and different expressions of color.

Below are 2 of the flowers that have been seen so far. One is the "green" flower that I showed before when we were talking about green flowers, and the other is a cross with Midnight Blue in which red combined with brown to make an unusual color. Probably not commercial but it is still interesting to see how the colors combine.

I didn't realize that the 3 lobed leaves are considered primitive.  I think that it will be interesting to see the different color combinations this cv can produce.  Seems like brown flowers are very interesting to hybridize because you can get a bunch of different colored offspring.  I think Georgia's pearl had a brown parent, and that bloom is very bright!  Snowstorm and ice storm are also two creme de la creme offspring that are blue/purple.  I look forward to seeing the offspring of CCacao.

And we still need to see the pics from that wild dream cross Smiley

It looks like Creme de Cacao, did in fact have many good offspring.  Many of the new varieties have CDC as their parent.  Also Saffron is another popular parent, for many many reasons Smiley  For all those hybridizers on the forum I think these are two must haves.  I am still trying to get CDC cuttings to root Sad
