I have come across a strange phenomena in the greenhouse. I have been treating the plants with Kontos for spider mites for over a year with great success. However once in a while i spot some vagrant mites trying to take hold.
What it keeping them in check are small spiders that have taken up residence in the greenhouse a few months ago. I live in the sticks so you have to learn to live in harmony with the bugs and insects you hate. I have spiders in my attic, in my cellar, once in a while in my bed, so its not uncommon to have them in the sunroom, and oh yes, big ones in the shower.

I have actually witnessed the resident spiders, that are no more than 1/8 inch in size, devour the mites.

Hopefully they will stay during the winter to keep the mites in check.
