We have not had many Blushing Maiden plants available in past years so not many have it. The supply is better this year because this variety continues to impress me. It is not one of the flashy, super bright colored varieties, nor one of the odd browns, etc, but it is a perfectly formed, large (8 inches is typical), and very pretty flower in the softer shades of color. A more "feminine" bloom to my way of seeing  things. The flower petal texture is firm and substantial and the bloom lasts for multiple days. For anyone attracted to the look of the bloom all other aspects of this variety are also above average - plant growth habit, flower size and presentation on the bush, and so forth. These come from the well endowed parents - Rainbow Christi x Gerald Derr.

Blushing Maiden has many different looks, with pink and yellow colors varying with each flower. Below is one look that I like.

Hi Charlie,

I read that you have some big 4 inch pots of this one still?  I would like to get one, but I am worried about whether or not it would make it here because its been pretty cold.  When do you stop shipping over here?

Hi Chris,

At this time of year we check weather.com and with the person ordering before shipping to areas that have the potential for freezing. For example, Denver shows 2 freezing nights for Wed and Thurs in the 10 day forecast but the rest of the time above freezing temps. If it said the same thing next Monday we would probably go ahead and ship if the customer agreed. Only freezes will hurt the plants, so that is what we look for both at the destination and along the route. Between now and Jan 1 the places we can ship to continue to shrink until only coastal California and desert parts of Arizona are left.

If you want to order Cindy won't charge it until we know we can ship next Monday.

Hi Charlie,

Thats good to know, I really like blushing maiden, but I am wondering if I should just wait till January to see what else is going to be available.  Do you think Silver Dragon and Maid of honor will make it to the store in January or is it too soon to tell?

Hey Kerry and Chris,

The plan is to close the store a day or two before Christmas and open again on Friday, January 1. Between now and then the plant choices will wind down, and the locations that we can ship to will become fewer and fewer. There will be some plant additions to the store before it closes, but they won't include any of the brand new cvs for next year.

Chris, there will be a few Silver Dragons and Maid of Honor offered in January. I noticed that the Silver Dragons came out of propagation a couple of weeks ago and were potted up then so should be nice by spring shipping.

Thanks for asking!

Charlie are you still propigating Blushing Maiden?  I had one last year and lost it, but would like to get another.  Smiley

Yes. I like it, too, despite being more subtle in color than most of the popular ones. Nice size bloom, upright bush, no terrible faults, so absolutely yes it will be back next year.
