I have tried various methods to sprout my seeds. I have them in regular potting soil, takes anywhere from 5 to 20 days to sprout.

I have been using another method that gives me 90 % success rate.

I nick the seeds, place the in a damp paper towel surrounded by ground up sphagnum moss and place in a plastic baggie and them place them on top of an under counter refrigerator. the temp on top of the fridge is a steady 90 degrees.

they sprout anywhere from 3 days to a week. I then carefully place them into individual peat pots with more ground up moss on top.

after placing the sprouts in the pots, they come to the surface in a few days.

see photo. these sprouts are from a cross between moonstruck and wild grape.

I heard of this method before except the fridge part LOL

I nick my seeds and put them in dome with heat under the dome. My first seeds where all germenated by a cable box heat now I am using a heat mat.  It takes only a few days for them to sprout.

Thanks for sharing Lou!  I have heard of that also, but on top of the cable box like Kerry...  I have some sprouting myself, but using the old fashioned method... put in a pot!  I don't know what I'm gonna do with all these seedlings I'm sprouting!  NO ROOM!  Charlie, will send you some seeds in the next couple weeks, waiting on a few more pods.

hi kristen,

knowing the snakes at the cable company, they would charge you and extra fee for sprouting the seeds.

it will probably be called. home and garden on the box, channel 101 on your friendly dial.
