Here's the latest update from the plant ER.  SKB is still hanging in there with the new growth getting a little bigger each day.  I chopped her head off tonight, though...  a few inches above the new growth she was oozing brown, sticky, smelly, sick plant goo.  Obviously this is decaying wood and it had to be disposed of.  I've included a photo for you.

Joining SKB in the ER are Burnt Saffron (front left in group photo) and It's a Wonderful Life (front right in group).  They're just barely still here too, although I'm using my same techniques to hopefully bring them back.  I hope my It's a Wonderful Life doesn't get renamed "It's a Slow and Painful Death."

The sick mystery cv has been moved into the bathroom with the other black spotted plants.  It's also looking better.

Magnifique (top right of group) is just in there giving the rest of the group moral support.

Please note around the very top left in the group photo the glass of cabernet next to the Wakeup Spray.  Plant stress reliever + people stress reliever =  Grin

In retrospect for this topic, please excuse the lack of carpet on the bedroom floor.  The house is a work in progress.  Though, concrete slab flooring comes highly recommended if you tend to overwater your indoor plants.   Wink

Hey Jordan, the Cab approach is much better than the "desperate" approach!

I like the look of the new growth on Sun Kissed Blonde. I would like to see the actual cut to see if the wood is healthy at that point. What do you think - is it all white or is it streaked with brown or black where you cut? If the plant was sick all the way through it would be rare to see new growth reach the size that we see in the photo. It's a good sign that you may get a new plant out of this one.

I hope you are using plenty of Supernova - it will help.

The other 2 that don't have leaves do not look like they are rotting. Keep a sharp eye out though, and if they start to rot from the tip cut back as far as you have to in order to see clean white wood.

I would be tempted to cut one of the stems of each of these anyway, just to force the remaining wood to leaf out as quickly as possible. If you have any candles collect some melted wax, let it cool to the point of just being malleable, and then cover the cut with the wax to keep out any spores that are floating around. Or, leave the plants alone and treat with supernova and see what happens. Your choice. First rule is "do no harm" but it is hard to sit by and watch when you think you can do some good.

Charlie, I did toss the SKB wood but here's a photo of the cut this evening.  The first time I made the cut--  a little higher--  there were brown streaks throughout the stem.  I cut lower and was fortunate to find all-white wood.

The candle trick is great!  I don't have a pruning sealer but I have plenty of candles.

From what is visible in this photo it look OK, and the leaf growth below the cut looks very good so I think it's hopeful. Don't overwater at this point because the few leaves don't need all that much.

Are they in a humidity dome?  Maybe it needs some help with that.  Im not sure I could be wrong.

No humidity dome, just a heater and wakeup spray.  It gets fairly humid in the room as there are a lot of plants in there and the door is shut.  The rest of the leaves are wilted today.  I think she's a goner.   Cry
