Can anyone guess what this one is? It was a mislabel from another source... The first is of the first bloom I got off of it. The second is the second. It sets seed and hasn't grown or branched much since I got it in October.

If those are typical blooms I don't think I've seen it before. Best guess is a Tahitian variety but if your source does not know then it's anybody's guess. Some varieties come and go due to various problems such as not growing well and never become widely circulated. However, I'm glad you got some seeds as the flower colors are worth preserving and maybe we can get them onto a more vigorous plant.

Charlie, I bought is as Tahitian Taui... It clearly is not. I contacted the source last night, and seeing the photos, he thinks it may be Gabriel... I have a beautiful Gabriel from you that actually just bloomed for the first time 2 days ago with twins. Those photos are on the photos of the day page. I guess they have some similar coloring... Anyway, he will send me the TT in the spring so its all good. I just wanted your opinion on what you may think it may be... for fun.  |

So I got another bloom off of Mystery Girl... Yet another look! So far I have had 4 blooms off of her, and each one is different looking!! Pretty cool. This one is looking more like TT this time. It is a hell of a seed setter let me tell you, but so far, no pollen off of her??

hi kristen, its the old, different color with different light days and temps. i have a lot of plants that are blooming that do not look like they are supposed to.
this is a lovely plant. i like it both ways, before and now.

It is defiantly pretty. I can give it that. Although I was looking forward to a TT... But this one is really nice. I like that it is a seed setter. All the photos taken were first day blooms, in the winter. So who knows. It also has that blistery issue that everyone is talking about in another forum here... it is the only cv I have that has them... I haven't done much about it, just let it do its thing.

Kristen, I think that might be a TT! The flower shape is very similar to the pics Ive seen and color is similar too! Its a very fancy bloom |

I agree with you Chris. The first two blooms I show don't seem to be the case, but this last one looks almost like it. Is that common for a cv to grow into its adult colors? Does that sound stupid?

Nah that doesnt sound stupid. Younger plants sometimes dont have the size and root system to support full size, form and color. My snowy sky keeps trying to bloom and it is only a few inches tall, and the flowers dont make it to maturity and fall off. It just wants to bloom and bloom though, I see more buds forming... I bet your TT will start blooming normal when it gets bigger and when it is not winter! It is a beauty at anyrate, really like the color and fancy blooms!

I did consider pinching the buds off, im now at 4 blooms... maybe I should, let it grow a bit and get strong...

Maureen, The plant took a downward spiral along with my Black Dragon this spring. CT spring is not too friendly and I think they got some wet feet... real bummer...

Oh no, you lost them both?? That mystery bloom so beautiful. I have Black Dragon on my wishlist because the blooms are so amazing. Tell me your opinion of Black Dragon.

Black Dragon is a harder one to keep it doesn't like the roots to be disturbed & it doesn't like to be over watered it can die suddenly , maybe when it gets larger it's stronger but when it's small it's not vary strong .

p.s. i just took my Voodoo Queen in from my front patio tonight. It's going down to the 30's tonight. The bush has 18 or 19 buds...no lie. It is amazing. And it has 3 blooms on it. I should take a pic of it, it's taking over my living room.

HI Dave - thanks for your compliment on my Josh. I got him in March and he was 3 yrs old, actually a Finnish import as a puppy to a breeder i've purchased from. Long story short he was 3 when i got him and he has stolen my heart. Luckily for him, because he has been quite destructive in and outside of my house. 2 months after I got him i was ready to deliver him back to the breeder.....then he behaved for a week and i decided i loved him too much to ever give him away to anyone. My son and husband love him as much as I do.
I have a black lab that is as good as gold, he's 6 1/2 and so much better behaved than Josh. Although he was crazy destructive till her turned 2....What kind of dog do you have? P.s. we have a cat and a russian tortoise too.

Hi Maureen - Sorry to hear about the destruction. Hope he gets out of that phase soon. I have 3 dogs in the 6 to 7 years of age range. They are from abandoned litters found near the side of a road by an animal rescue group. They are mixes from two different litters. The concensus is that one is shepherd mix and the other two probably border collie mix. They have collie like coats but they're too small to be collies and too large to be shelties. I adopted them when they were about 4 months old over a 6 month period. I had my share of destruction the first few months but not too bad.

HI Dave - your dogs sound really cute. I've read that bored labrador retrievers are troublesome.....but never thought you couldn't leave them unattended or they would destroy things...LOL Live and learn:-)
