Hello to all Hibiscus hybridizers,
I am living in the South of Greece and I am growing theseterrific plants since many years now. Recently I am trying to hybridize the Hawaian species Arnottianus that has a very fine fragrance and all the white hibiscus come from. My purpose is to produce a really fragrant hybrid. Unfortunately, my specimens are all interbred and I have reached a dead end.

I would like to ask if anyone has got any such individual that creates seeds and so could be so kind as to send me either seeds from real Arnottianus or cuttings that could give me some new genetic matterial that Icould work with.

Hello Dimitris, nice to hear from you.

It is an excellent idea to work on - fragrant hibiscus using Hibiscus arnottianus. I made some attempts in the past by crossing H arnottianus with other fragrant hybrids like Pink Poodle. But, I had no success and did not continue the program. Persistance is required and a little luck!

I do not have any seeds or small plants from H arnottianus at this time. I hope you find some.

Hi Dimitris

Where I live I have tons of this species growing around apt buildings , I would not be able to pollinate and keep track if any seeds would produce.

You should try here they may have some
