Charlie, at Open House, just left of the water fountain on your patio you had a little table with blooms. In the far right corner was a gorgeous red one that I should have asked you about.
It was about 8", and a fairly warm red. If I remember correctly, it was solid, possibly a bit darker in the center. My guess would be that it was a Scarlet Beauty.

I know it's a long shot that by the time you read this you know which flower I'm talking about, but I thought I'd try.

Thanks!

Uli, there were several big bright blooms of Firestorm there yesterday. It is a solid reddish orange and a real attention getter. I think that is probably what it was but don't recall what was in the location you described.

Charlie, that must be it, as it certainly got my attention. The flower I'm thinking of was bright, but in a very pleasant way...not in-your-face bright.

That's the great thing about going to open house, cv's whose pics didn't do much for you turn out to be the most alluring ones.

Yes, when I went outside this morning the Firestorm flower was right where you said it would be so that must be the one. I agree about seeing the blooms in person, photos are nice but not the same as the real thing.

If you go to another Open house can you take a few photo's and post them so as we get the feel of what its like. I know there are a few here on the Website but i would love to see a few more.

Will do, David Smiley I actually had my camera with me, but...my hands were full Wink

I do want to go back next time, don't even mind the 1.5 hour drive (traffic was horrendous both ways)

What do your daughter and husband think of all this, Uli? I hope they enjoyed the visit, too.

Charlie, both my husband and my daughter enjoyed it. Unfortunately my husband had hurt his knee playing tennis that morning and could hardly walk (he earned a few extra points for still coming with me). He actually picked out my Bridal Path for me when we were at our first open house 2 years ago. I'm so grateful for that, I wouldn't have gone for that color back then and it is one of my favorites.
My daughter LOVES hibiscus, and we have a great time talking about them and admiring the blooms together. A next generation customer in the making Smiley
