charlie...this is the hib I got at my local nursery...remember it was marked flash dancer? Well it opened today to this very pretty red..but I do not know which one it is....lynette

I think John is right - Vermillion Queen. Same flower, same leaves. Makes sense because it's a Dupont variety that roots easily and is being grown by lots of growers for the mass market. I like it as a bush and the flower isn't bad, just a tad small for a modern exotic hibiscus. Too bad it wasn't Flash Dancer but it's still a nice addition to your collection.

yes it is very pretty...when it opened all the way it was about 7 inches...and I only have 1 other red

Yep, that size is typical for Vermillion Queen - respectable but with exotic hibiscus you expect something special from a solid colored bloom like bigger size. Putting that aside VQ is a nice overall variety and a much better than average bush that I am sure you will enjoy.

Yes, I have a couple of stock plants blooming now - really pretty blooms. But, no new plants at the present time. I will propagate it this year and if you put in a waiting list request with Cindy she will let you know when one is ready to go.
