Hi David,

So Strawberry Cream was the one plant that did not survive being held at Customs for 31 days? That delay was too much but at least the others survived.

Based on what I can see in the photo, it is a grafted plant and the leaves you see are the root stock plant coming back. I use both Albo and Pride of Hankins as root stock - this one may be Albo. If it is you will soon have a huge hibiscus that is great for screening off neighbors, etc. It will end up being the largest hibiscus you have within 2 years. We will be able to tell for sure if it is Albo or Pride of Hankins in about a month when more growth is visible. POH is no slouch as a grower either so whichever it is it will turn into a big, attractive plant that makes lots of small, simple hibiscus blooms.

That is great news and no matter what it turns out to be it is a great story for the future and i have a spot already picked out for it in the garden.
As for the other 3 well i had to re-pot them yesterday as they are all growing so well, what a journey for the 4 of them and am now looking forward to posting the photo's.

This reminds me that I need to find a source for 10x-20x magnifiers that people can use to look for mites on the bottoms of leaves. Unless you see live ones moving about it is very hard to diagnose mites with any certainty.

I was at the mall yesterday and there's a store that sells loupes. I got a bit of sticker-shock, they were charging $50 for a tiny 20x loupe. The glass was maybe, if I'm generous, 1cm diameter. Needless to say I didn't buy it.

Brookstone had a big 10x lighted magnifier for $20. It may be a bit too big to get into tight areas close to the stem, but if you only want to inspect the underside of leaves it works great Smiley
