I was given a hibiscus in hopes of "saving" it... it has 2, tall, spindly branches which have maybe 4 leaves at the very top of one & 2 that are going brown on the other. I've repotted it, but it doesn't seem to have much in the way of any root system. Is there any hope for this poor creature?   Embarrassed

You bet there's hope! A big factor now will be the conditions it is in. To thrive it needs warmth and light, plenty of both but we're not talking desert conditions either. Just nice and warm and bright. Some good fertilizer applied lightly will help it get going again. Supernova would be excellent but the stuff costs more than the plant might be worth to you. If you have any Superthrive that's another one that would be useful in this situation. Those 2 don't take the place of fertilizer but have root stimulating properties and anti-stress effects that would be helpful.

After the hibiscus has shown clear improvement you can consider how best to prune it. That will result in the stems filling out with leaves and cause new branches to grow.

Let us know how it does.
