I think it would be neat to get a list of CV's that bloom the most and is always producing buds  Smiley

Just ran across this old thread while paging through the cvs list. For me in this area (Orange County, southern California) Ross Estey is hands down the best bloomer. Several to many flowers every day regardless of the season or weather. The number of blooms only varies with the size of the plant.

Voodoo Magic produces the most buds for me--never less than 120-150. But most of them don't open fully and many are dropped. My bush is round and about 3-4 feet in diameter.

Others most floriferous for me are Rum Runner and Black Dream.

It's interesting to hear everyone's experiences here and highlights the tremendous variability in hibiscus in different climates, probable different fertilization patterns, etc.

Kerry, my Simple Pleasures grows like a weed. It would probably be 8' tall and almost as wide if I didn't keep cutting it back. Yet it gave me only a very few blooms this winter and it gets the same amount of water and fertilizer (HVH, Booster, and Supernova) as all the others.

Erny right now mine SP is barely coming back to life from severe neglect from my friend lol It bloomed well for me inside. I also think CDC blooms a lot. I would say Dragon's heart blooms a lot also but it took mine a year to get going. Last season it had over 30 buds growing at one time. When I move I will put it in a pot outside and let it do its thing.

I was just thinking about what you said above more. At the time I was only feeding my SP HVH by its self. Chris has stated that High Nitrogen is not really good for hibiscus. If you combine HVH fert plus booster thats a lot of nitrogen.

For the full grown bloomers I have, not many as they are all young, I have a few stand outs.

Cindy's Heart
Saffron
Voodoo Magic
Gabriel

some real young and small plants I have that look like they have potential are,

Confection Perfection
Thanksgiving
My Blue Heaven
Blue Ballerina
5th Dimension

And my Vin Extraordinaire seems to be so happy at my mothers house this winter.  It is blooming once a month on its single stalk.  I need to prune it badly but I'm so scared to touch that one... any suggestions?  Last fall I pruned a bunch and lost them.  (I alcoholed the cutters after each cut too) what did I do wrong?
