Hi everyone,

For those who know him from this forum, I wanted to let you know that Dave (roadrunner) is really sick. His arms are slowly becoming paralyzed, and his doctor is afraid he has ALS (Lou Gherig's disease) which is truly scary. There is hope that it's just a neck injury and that surgery will be able to restore his movement in his arms. He goes to a neurologist tomorrow to find out if he has ALS. He can't type, and can barely manage to do miminal self-care tasks. Yesterday severe pain began. So he's in very bad shape. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!!! We're really, really worried about him!

Cindy,

That's terrible news.  If you speak with him, please send him my well wishes.  I can't imagine being without movement...  hoping for a full recovery for him!

Thank you, Jordan and JL! Today is the day he finds out if he has ALS/Lou Gherig's Disease. Hope for a resounding NO!  I'll let you know if I find out the outcome.

Dave found out yesterday that it's not ALS, but still doesn't know what it is. He has more tests scheduled for Jan. 5. Not being ALS is GOOD news though! That is a death sentence!  So now they just need to hurry up and figure out what it is before he completely loses the use of his arms. He's already lost the use of his right arm!

Not being ALS is very good news.  Will continue to keep Dave in my thoughts.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the wonderful thoughts. Today is the first time I've looked at the forum since I became sick in late November, mainly to try and distract me from this ongoing deteriorating condition. Cindy and Charlie have been great support and she has covered this quite well. I rarely get online now and most days typing is a real chore, today isn't too bad. I could probably fill up this thread on all the simple routine things that I took for granted that I no longer can do, or can only do with great difficulty. I'm not going to press my luck today so I'll continue to update Cindy as best I can with any changes.

I'm still having trouble comprehending that I played tennis a few days before Thanksgiving and now I can't even raise my right arm. You can't believe how scary this is.
