I just remembered what I was going to say ( a day later my memory is bad lol)

I was going to say I have decided to only use the more vigorous and average growing hibiscus as pod parents. Chris really help me with this decision by posting the info he did.
Since Chris stated that hibiscus will grow slower if they are using all of their energy producing buds and pods it makes sense not to use slow growing hibiscus as pod parents. My nightfire is barely coming along , I know if I use it as a pod parent it will make this cv just stop growing until the seeds are ripe.  This is probably why my rockets red glare is growing slowly. I pollinated the first bloom and now I have the slowest growth from this plant.

I have notice the cv's that are very fast growers or bloomers are doing well with being the pod parent. My cinnamon girl is still giving blooms and is growing ( would look better if I had no mite problem) My gator pride is doing well with less light and is still producing blooms and new leaves. Even though Heartbreak hotel is imo a moderate grower. It has given me the most blooms for this season. I did pollinate 2 flowers off of HH . I will see if this will effect its grow.

My Lady bug is a slow grower so I used it as the father and gator P as the pod parent.

I know that there is going to be a time where I wont have a choice to pollinate which parents I would like to be pod parents so I will keep record on the grow of these cv's when it happens.

Cindy says the same thing about pollinating her small plants in 4 inch pots. She has noticed that it puts a strain on them at that size and doesn't do it anymore (well, there are exceptions when the temptation to make a desired cross overwhelms resolve).

Kerry, I received the seeds that you sent and see that you have had excellent success in your conditions. Some, like Cinnamon Girl, won't set seed in brighter, hotter conditions and you have done well to get ripe pods off of it. I like the crosses like Wild Dream x Heartbreak Hotel and Rockets Red Glare x Gator Pride. We should see first bloom from most of these by the end of next summer!  Stay tuned for pics, etc.

That is interesting I never thought about the size of the plant.

Cool I am glad the seeds made it safely. With my experience Cinnamon girl, wild dream, and gator pride are great seed setters. I forgot to tell you the ones with a lot of seeds like cinnamon girl x heart break hotel I put them together I had two pods so this is why there are like 31 seeds same with this other cross so really I got about 15 seeds per pod.
