Charlie,
Is one of the parents of this CV Dragons Breath? I've been looking for it, but I can't find it anywhere! A friend has this cv and I just got a cutting of it, and when looking at the flowers they have DB distinctive swirling pattern.

I have no idea, having never seen this one. That's one of the 1001 questions that will be answerable when the AmHS finally gets the data from the last 5 years or so of hybridizing online. I hope there will never be a time period as long as the current "drought" as far as submitted info from hybridizers goes. Here's hoping!
Good luck with the cutting!

Nice! My best guess is that DB is not in there but I wouldn't rule it out either. I recall a cross I made with Dragons Breath and another red where the result was a solid gray, can't say which parent contributed the gray but one of the reds had the blue/brown/gray making genes in it. Your friend is growing some good looking hibiscus.

Yah, I really like her garden alot! That photo set was from last year, and the plants are more mature now. Simple pleasures is huge now and so is Bon Temps. Blues Man has a nice upright bush and lots of upright flowers. and it also roots on its own too. I only asked if you knew if it was a DB offspring because in person the flowers have a distinct DB swirl thats hard to capture in photos. Did you get a chance to see the Jamilou? It looks like your picture of LL.
Also there are some seedlings that she grew out for a friend and their pics are in that photo set. CA fiesta is a SP x CA Gold cross which has a unique orange/green sheen. I just got a cutting of that and it roots very well on its own, I am unsure as to how well it blooms, but I will be evaluating it further this year. It was one of the more interesting offspring that came out of the crosses and seems to have at least passed the propagation hurdle.

Yes, I looked through the other photos at this site. The Jamilou is having a very good day! I grew it for several years but it did not work so well for growing for distribution. I can't recall which type of "misbehavior" it showed but I had to drop it eventually. Probably something to do with the growth habit.
It's nice seeing your friend's garden and flowers.
