I been reading a lot of responses in the yahoo list regarding fertilizers and seedling. Everyone has said that fertilizers will kill seedlings. Is this true for all fertilizers ?
would a organic fertilizer like biobizz bio gro kill seedlings ?

The truth is kerry, seedlings don't really need fertilizer until they are around 6 inches tall. Then you can give a very dilute fertilizer. I didn't fertilize my seedlings from last year until this size and they did great. I don't think it is possible to hurt them by using organic fertilizer, but its not going to do anything as far as increasing growth rate. Its kinda funny how around 6 inches is when the growth really starts to go, i wonder why that is?

Wow, I never knew that! By "very dilute" Chris, do you mean half strength, quarter strength...?

I have another question Chris, but no need to make new thread.
I put my seedings in 6 in pots to grow after they got about 2 inches high. I am thinking I should have put them in smaller pots instead of the big ones does it make a difference.
I think you said that some plants will grow slower because they are trying to grow a nice firm roots stock . Do you thing this is happening to some of my seedlings I see barely any growth from the ones in the bigger pots.
