Charlie, have you grown this cv? If so, what do you think of it? Anybody else have any experience with White Diamonds?

Ive seen it before, its a mini, to me the flower is interesting, but a little plain for my taste. The bush is small, but if I remember correctly it was pretty upright and full.

Many people have said its a good bush and love it. It looks JUST LIKE lavender Ice but it should not be a shocker since its double bred off of lavender ice. I do not know if its better than lavender Ice or not. Charlie mentioned why he does not have lavender ice anymore in my Christmas frost thread. I like lavender Ice but its small, thin branched and not so upright. ( this is what I can remember when I had it it was cute though )

I found my old Lavender Ice the other day. You can see the influence in White Diamonds both in flower and bush. The White Diamonds bush is better but not what I would call good. What others who have mostly Florida show type plants call good I call barely adequate. White Diamonds flowers are less lavender than Lavender Ice but the opening color can be very cool if you like that kind of off-white coloration. Neither parent nor offspring blooms all that much, coming in short spurts for me anyway. I have some small grafted White Diamonds that were recently potted up to 6 inch size pots. Probably be on the web site by the fall or when the 2010 store opens in January depending on how fast or slow they grow. Seems slow so far.
Personally, I like the little flower a lot, at least when it opens. It does lose some of the contrast that makes it special as the day goes on. I planned to grow a lot more of them until I worked with the bush and then decided to hybridize with it instead to get something that is better all around. I would like to cross it with April Showers, for instance.

That would be a nice cross with April Showers. Maybe you could get a multicolor pastel with the mottling of White Diamonds.

Yes, just what I was thinking! White Diamonds is the result of a cross with 2 very small flowers, so April Showers would also bring some larger size to the gene mix. And April Showers sets seeds and roots which are good qualities to bring to the table.

Here's to hoping you get it, along with an improved bush over White Diamonds. That would definitely be one to add to my wishlist.
